The talk and screening "Moriyama-San" will be held on Oct. 21, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in the Aula Magna of the School of Engineering ( The meeting with filmmakers Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine addresses the evolution of contemporary living according to the declinations of "domesticity" and informality.
The complete work of Bêka and Lemoine (16 films) was acquired in 2016 by MoMA New York, becoming part of the museum's permanent collection. Described by the New York Times as "cult figures in the world of European architecture," Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine focus their research on experimenting with new narrative and cinematic forms related to contemporary architecture and the city. Through their work, the authors question, through a subjective, irreverent and ironic gaze, the idealization in the representation of architecture, while exalting its vulnerability, vitality and beauty. Among their best-known films are Homo Urbanus (2019), Moriyama-San (2017), Barbicania (2014) and Koolhaas Houselife (2008).
