Polittico Research Lab is going to redesign one of the most iconic areas of the University of Pisa. It is close to the city walls and is part of a former industrial complex that houses, among its major centers of excellence, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics. The area is a large garden with a building for student associations and study rooms that the University of Pisa would like to revitalize and make available to the entire city. The area is currently occupied by a group of students who have a small bicycle repair shop and are very conscious of climate, ecology and recycling practices. This opportunity will trigger a participatory process, which will be exhibited and discussed in a series of stimulating public lectures and workshops involving the intellectual and scientific world. Student projects, directed by a body of experts, will advance the policy debate about how public institutions can promote actions and pedagogies that nurture relationships among diverse social actors.
